ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL SAFEGUARD OFFICER
Trans-Hindukush Road Connectivity Project (THRCP), Ministry of Public Work (MPW). Kabul. Afghanistan.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The main duties and responsibilities of the ESM officer are comprised of the following;
Environmental and Social Safeguard Assessment and Management
Ensure that the Environmental and Social Management Plan and social inclusion procedures are well understood by the key counterparts responsible for project implementation including the Contractor.
Ensure that all project activities and their implementation comply with the approved ESIA ESMP and Resettlement Action Plan (RAP).
Ensure the implementation of Environmental Mitigation Measures (EMM) and Environmental & Social Management Plan (ESMP) are as per the Schedules by the contractor.
Review and endorse all project prepared documents to ensure the incorporation of Environmental and Social Issues.
Support the Resident Engineer to identify and address ESMP implementation challenges · the project's site and advise on the appropriate solutions and/or preventive mitigation measures.
Conduct environmental and social safeguard assessments and data collection for the implementation of ESMP · the project site.
Responsible for the implementation of health safety and traffic management plan.
